Tired, low drive, performance worries? What to ask your doctor

Tiredness, low sex drive and erection problems are common, and they have many possible causes: poor sleep, stress, alcohol, weight, low mood, medication side effects, blood pressure, blood sugar, or hormone levels such as testosterone.

Erection problems can be an early warning of heart or blood vessel issues, so they're worth taking seriously rather than hiding. That is a reason to see a doctor, not a reason to panic.

Book an appointment and say it plainly: "I've been tired, my drive is low, and I've had some trouble with erections for a few months. Can we check my bloods?" A doctor may suggest a blood test (often in the morning) and check blood pressure. Bring a list of any medicines you take.

Avoid online boosters, 'testosterone' supplements and pills bought without a prescription. Only a doctor can tell you what's actually going on.
